Desserts - Peppermint Ice Cream



INGREDIENTS
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups half-and-half
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 6 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 bag peppermint candies

INSTRUCTIONS
Heat milk in a saucepan. Remove from heat and add sugar and salt; stir until dissolved. Add half-and-half, vanilla, and whipping cream. Mix together well; cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Place peppermint candies in a plastic bag and crush until fine. Stir candy into refrigerated mixture just before placing in ice cream freezer. Freeze according to manufacturer’s directions.
