Desserts - Dutch Apple Pie with Coconut Topping

  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon margarine
  • 5 cups sliced apples
  • 1 pastry crust
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Butter
  • Topping:
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup finely shredded coconut

Combine flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Place a layer of apple slices in pastry crust and sprinkle with flour mixture. Continue layers until all are used. Sprinkle lemon juice over top of pie. Dot with butter. Bake at 425ยบ until apples are tender.
Combine sugar and flour; mix with melted butter until crumbly. Add coconut and spread over apples. Return to oven and bake about seven minutes or until topping is brown.
