Tomato Dumplings

INGREDIENTS |
- 7 fresh tomatoes

1/3 stick butter
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
-
1 tablespoon sugar
-
2 1/2 cups water
-
Pepper to taste
-
Dumplings:
-
3 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt
-
1 tablespoon oil
-
Water

INSTRUCTIONS |
Combine first six ingredients in Dutch oven. Simmer while making dumplings. Combine dumpling ingredients, using enough water to make a biscuit-like dough. Roll out dough thin and cut into 3-inch strips. Bring tomato mixture to boil. Drop dumplings into it one at a time. Shake pan to keep from sticking. Reduce heat and cook 10 minutes or until tender. |
