Tomato Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 7 fresh tomatoes
  • 1/3 stick butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • Pepper to taste
  • Dumplings:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Water
  • Instructions


    Combine first six ingredients in Dutch oven. Simmer while making dumplings. Combine dumpling ingredients, using enough water to make a biscuit-like dough. Roll out dough thin and cut into 3-inch strips.
    Bring tomato mixture to boil. Drop dumplings into it one at a time. Shake pan to keep from sticking. Reduce heat and cook 10 minutes or until tender.
