Desserts - Peppermint Clouds



INGREDIENTS
  • 3 egg whites
  • ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup (2 ounces) crushed peppermint candies

INSTRUCTIONS
Beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and salt; beat into soft peaks. Add sugar gradually, beating until mixture forms stiff peaks. Reserve 2 tablespoons crushed candy; fold remaining candy into egg white mixture.
Drop mixture by tablespoons onto parchment- or aluminum foil-lined cookie sheets. Sprinkle tops of cookies with remaining candy. Bake at 300° until cookies begin to brown and feel crisp when touched, about 20-25 minutes. Cool in pans on wire racks.
