Organized in 1933, Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church is located in the foot of Bluff Mountain in the Goose Gap community of Sevierville. With seven miles to the nearest place of worship, two families — Ogle and Price — decided to donate land for the church to be built. The community cut wood for the building and sold hogs to pay for other materials. On Oct. 9, 1933, the congregation gathered for the first time with 28 members. Today, Sunday worship services are at 10:30 a.m.
