Sauces and Marinades - Steaks with Mushroom Sauce

INGREDIENTS
  • 5 slices bacon, cut into -inch pieces
  • 3 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 3/4 cup smoky mesquite steak sauce
  • 1/4 cup red wine, water, or beef broth (I have used all three, and each makes a great sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 4 (10-ounce) boneless strip steaks or your favorite steak

INSTRUCTIONS
Cook bacon in skillet until crisp; remove from skillet and pour off all but 2 tablespoons of drippings. Add mushrooms to reserved drippings in skillet; cook and stir 5 minutes or until mushrooms are tender. Return bacon to skillet. Add steak sauce, wine (liquid) and brown sugar; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally; keep warm.
Place steaks on grill over medium heat or on rack of broiling pan. Grill or broil 4 to 6 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness. Serve with mushroom sauce.
The cook says: “Brush steaks with additional cup steak sauce before grilling for an extra touch of flavor.”
