INGREDIENTS |
- 5 cups water

1 pound dry lentil

1 bay leaf

1 teaspoon salt
-
1/8 teaspoon each garlic salt, dry mustard, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, and thyme

8 ounces smoked sausage, sliced and chopped

2 onions, chopped

1 cup celery, chopped
-
2 cups tomato juice
-
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce

2 tablespoons barbecue sauce

2 tablespoons molasses

INSTRUCTIONS |
In a Dutch oven or large pan, combine water, lentil, and seasonings. Bring to a boil and then simmer, covered, for 35 minutes. In a skillet, cook sausage, onions, and celery until meat is lightly browned. Add to lentil with remaining ingredients. Simmer for 15 minutes. |
