INGREDIENTS |
- 2 cups water

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 medium pears, peeled, cored, and cut in half lengthwise

Vanilla ice cream

Fudge Sauce:
-
1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk

1 (12-ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup sugar
-
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
-
1 teaspoon vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS |
Heat water and 1 cup sugar to boiling in a 10-inch skillet; reduce heat. Add vanilla. Place pears, cut side down, in skillet. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Turn pears over; refrigerate in syrup until chilled. To make fudge sauce, heat milk, chocolate chips, and sugar to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla. To serve, place a scoop of ice cream in a dessert dish, top with 1 pear half and spoon 1 tablespoon warm fudge sauce on top. Yield: Six servings. |
