Breads, Rolls, and Muffins -
Bacon Cheese Biscuits

INGREDIENTS |
- 1/2 cup shortening
-
2 cups self-rising flour
-
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
-
1/3 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
-
2/3 to 3/4 cup milk
|
INSTRUCTIONS |
Heat oven to 450°. Cut shortening into flour until crumbly. Stir in cheese and bacon. Stir in enough milk until soft dough forms. Knead gently 10 times on a lightly floured surface. Roll or pat dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with floured 2 1/2-inch cutter. Place one inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 11 to 13 minutes or until golden brown. Yield: 10 biscuits. |
