Cherry Walnut Pudding

INGREDIENTS |
- Pudding:

2 cups sugar

2 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 egg

1 tablespoon butter, melted

1 cup sour cherries, pitted

1 cup walnuts, chopped

Butter sauce:
-
1 pint half-and-half
-
1 1/4 pounds butter
-
1 cup sugar
-
Cornstarch
-
1 tablespoon vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS |
Combine 2 cups sugar, flour, baking soda, egg, and 1 tablespoon butter; mix until crumbly. Add cherries, using just enough juice to make a stiff batter. Add walnuts. Pour into a 9-x-9-inch pan and bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes. To make sauce, combine half-and-half, butter, and sugar and bring to a boil. Thicken with cornstarch to a medium thickness. Add vanilla. Pour over cherry mixture when done. |
