Upside-Down Raisin Cake

INGREDIENTS |
- 2/3 cup white sugar

¼ cup shortening

1 egg

1/3 cup milk

1 cup flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup raisins

¾ cup brown sugar

1½ cups boiling water

INSTRUCTIONS |
Cream together sugar, shortening, and egg; add milk. Add sifted dry ingredients and raisins; mix well. Pour into an 8½-x-11-inch pan. Mix brown sugar and boiling water; slowly pour over batter. Bake at 350º for 35 to 40 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream, whipped topping, or cold milk. |
