Breads, Rolls, and Muffins - Strawberry Dumplings



INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 1/2 cup juice from mashed strawberries
  • Additional strawberry juice in which to boil dumplings

INSTRUCTIONS
Mix flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder; add shortening. Add 1/2 cup juice and mix to make stiff dough. Roll dough out thin on floured surface and cut into 1/2-inch-wide strips or make “drop” dumplings. Drop into boiling strawberry juice and cook 10-12 minutes.
