Soups - Jambalaya Chili

  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup chopped green pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 2 cups chopped fully cooked ham
  • 1 pound ground beef, fried and drained
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomatoes with liquid, chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder

In a Dutch oven or large kettle, saute onion, celery, green pepper, and garlic in butter or margarine until tender. Add the next six ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 25 minutes. Uncover and cook for 10 minutes longer.
