Stuffings and Dressings - Hot Sausage Stuffing

  • 1 large loaf sandwich bread
  • Warm water or milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 rib celery, finely chopped
  • 1 pound hot sausage, uncooked
  • 1 (10 1/2-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

Remove crusts from bread slices and discard; break bread into pieces and moisten with warm water or milk. Add onions, celery, and sausage; cut through with a wooden spoon to break up sausage and bread. Add soup; mix.
Spoon into two loaf pans or one 9-x-13-inch pan. Bake at 350-375° for approximately one hour and 15 minutes or until nicely browned and crusty. Spoon out of pan or cut into squares. Serve with turkey, chicken, or as a main dish.
