Meats & Seafood - Hawaiian Ham Steak with Bananas



INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup red or white wine vinegar
  • 1 smoked ham center slice, (approximately 1 1/2 pounds)

INSTRUCTIONS
In a 12-inch skillet over medium heat, cook brown sugar, butter, and vinegar until sugar is melted. Stir occasionally. Add ham slice and cook for five minutes on each side. Put ham on heated platter to keep warm.

Remove skillet from heat. Cut bananas into 1 1/2-inch slices. Add to sugar mixture in skillet. Cook over medium heat for five minutes, basting bananas with sauce.

Carefully spoon banana chunks onto platter surrounding ham slice. Spoon remaining sauce over ham and bananas. Serve immediately.

Yield: Four to six servings.
