Brown sausage and add salts. In a large ovenproof dish, cover bottom with a layer of crackers. Layer onions, more crackers, meat, and pimientos in dish. Continue alternating layers of meat and onions until they’re gone.
Mix water and soup; pour over layers. Cook at 350° for 45 minutes. Remove casserole after 30 minutes and top with cheese; bake for remaining 15 minutes.
