Chocolate-Filled Bon Bons

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring
  • 13/4 cup all-purpose flour, unsifted
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup pecans, finely chopped
  • 1 bag chocolate Hershey’s Kisses
  • Instructions


    Cream shortening and sugars until fluffy. Add egg and flavorings; beat well. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and pecans; mix well.
    Form dough into one-inch balls. Press each ball around a Hershey’s Kiss so that the chocolate is completely enclosed (like a chocolate-covered cherry).
    Place cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350° for 12 minutes. Do not
    overbake.
    Yield: 31/2 to 4 dozen cookies.
