Charleston Cheese Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Instructions


Soften cream cheese and mix in mayonnaise, blending well. If cream cheese is soft, you can mix by hand and not have to use a mixer.
Stir in finely chopped onion and shredded Cheddar cheese, mixing well.
Spread evenly in oven-proof dish (about 9 inches in diameter). (Use a decorative shallow dish that can go into the oven and be attractive for serving dip).
Top with cooked and crumbled bacon. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes. Serve with chips or crackers. (Don’t overcook bacon before topping dip as it will brown more in the oven. Can also use real bacon bits — don’t use imitation).
