Vermont Dumplin’

Ingredients

  • Prepared pie crust dough
  • 4 apples, cored
  • 1/3 cup sugar (maple sugar is preferred)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 2 cups maple syrup
  • Whipped cream

Instructions


Preheat oven to 425º. Roll out pie crust and cut into four 7-inch squares. Place each
apple in center of square and place in baking dish; bundle pastry around apple.
Combine sugar and cinnamon; fill each apple cavity with mixture. Dot each apple top with butter. Bring opposite corners of pastry together and press together to make bundles. Pour maple syrup in dish around apples, not over them. Bake 40 minutes in preheated oven.
To serve, place each dumplin’ on a plate, pour hot syrup from pan over each, and top with whipped cream.
