Recipe of the Month Cakes and Pies - Midnight Lace Icing

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Bring butter and milk to a boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat well with an electric mixer. Remove 1/4 cup of mixture and reserve. Add cocoa to remaining mixture in pan and blend well. Add nuts and stir.
Spread cake with chocolate icing and allow it to stand for a few minutes. Drizzle white icing over top of chocolate icing in a free-style lace pattern.
