Breads, Rolls, and Muffins - Southern Pattie Grits

  • 1 cup cream-style corn
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sliced maple sausage
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup diced green sweet pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Dash black pepper
  • 8 ounces grated Cheddar or garden vegetable cheese
  • Oil for frying
  • Red pepper jelly

Mix together corn, eggs, milk, baking powder, flour, sausage, onion, green pepper, garlic powder, black pepper, and cheese. In a large, deep pan, bring oil to a boil. Drop mixture by heaping tablespoons into oil and fry until golden brown. Serve warm with red pepper jelly.
