Orange Pears

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 4 ripe pears or 8 canned halves
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange rind
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Instructions


    Mix dry ingredients. Add butter, rind, and juice. Cook until mixture becomes clear and thickened.
    Place pears in a shallow baking dish. Cover with sauce. Bake, uncovered, at 350° until pears are tender (15 minutes if canned pears are used). Baste every five minutes with sauce. Serve warm.
