Danish Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • Crust:
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups self-rising flour
  • Filling:
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, unbeaten
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 cups apples, diced (Jonathan, Winesap, Granny Smith, etc.)
  • Topping:
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup nuts, chopped
  • Instructions


    Blend crust ingredients; form into a ball and chill until ready to bake.
    Combine first seven filling ingredients; add lemon juice and apples. Roll out pastry for a single 9-inch pie plate. Form pastry shell and pour in filling. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° and bake for 30 minutes.
    Combine topping ingredients to make a crumbly mixture. Sprinkle on pie. Bake at 400° for 10 minutes.
