Submitted By: Villa Maxwell

Ingredients

  • ½ cup margarine, melted
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1½ cups self-rising flour,
  • sifted
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 cups apples, finely chopped
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • Instructions

Melt margarine in a 9-x-13-inch pan. Cut shortening into flour. Add milk and stir with a fork until dough no longer sticks to the side of the bowl. Spread dough on a floured board and knead until smooth. Roll into a large, ¼-inch thick rectangle. Sprinkle cinnamon over apples, and then spread apples evenly over the dough. Roll the apples into the dough like a jelly roll. Dampen the edges of the dough with water and knead. Cut dough into 16 slices and set in pan with margarine. Heat sugar and water over the stove until sugar is dissolved, and then pour over dough and apples. Although it may look like too much water,
the water will dissolve as the cobbler bakes. Bake at 350º
    for 1 hour.
