Molasses Popcorn Balls

Submitted By: Darlene Culver-Rike

Ingredients

  • 4 quarts popped corn (about 1 cup unpopped kernels)
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

Sift through popped corn and discard any unpopped kernels. Place popcorn in a large pan.
Combine molasses, water, vinegar, and sugar. Cook on medium heat until it comes to a rolling boil. Stir constantly until it reaches hard ball stage. Remove from heat. Stir in butter until melted. Pour mixture over popcorn. Stir until well coated. Grease hands with butter and form baseball-size popcorn balls, pressing together hard. Place on waxed paper and allow balls to completely cool.
