Blackberry Roll

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 4 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2½ cups blackberries
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar


Cut shortening into flour with a pastry blender. Mix in cheese. Add milk and blend
with a fork. Roll the dough to a rectangle 1/3 inch thick. Mix together the sugars and berries. Spread over dough. Roll up like a jelly roll and bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with sour cream or ice cream.
