Yeast Biscuits

  • 2 packages yeast
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2/3 cup oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 6 cups self-rising flour


Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Add buttermilk, oil, and soda. Add flour
gradually and stir. Cool and store in refrigerator. As needed, gently form dough into a log and slice biscuits to the thickness you desire. Place biscuits two inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet and Bake at 425ยบ for 12 to 15 minutes. Half of the recipe makes enough biscuits for a couple of small family.
